Ulysses's Director | Pietro Masci, PhD | Economy, between Europe and USA | My overreaching goal is the search for a never-ending knowledge. Within this context, my objective is to understand the links between economics and finance and power and political structure in various systems and countries with particular focus on the United States and Italy. This implies to close the circle and round up my studies in economic, financial and public policy fields with the political systems and their development and how those systems serve the interests of specific groups. This approach allows me to utilize my long research and operational experience in various fields to review the social, economic and political impact and discover the possibilities of reforms to fulfill the ideal of a society that reduces inequalities and offers opportunities to all. I enjoy managing people and resources and directing them towards common goals.
My research interest is to use my long experience in the development and functioning of financial markets, financial analysis, project finance with the involvement of International Financial Institutions (IFIs), public policy, political economy, regulatory aspects, cost and benefits (CBA) of government intervention, debt and insurance markets, and entrepreneurship toward the objective of providing a framework to building a better and more inclusive society with opportunities available to all. To this end, it is crucial the use of appropriate methodology rooted on logical and qualitative analysis and on philosophical underpinning, articulating thesis and finding confirmation using quantitative tools and analysis – including audit and audit performance- particularly survey design, panel data and spatial analysis, structural equation modeling, time series, and network analysis, giving relevance to implementation and details.
